Missionaries

Rebecca Hunt

I have recently completed six years of service in South Africa. I am grateful to God for having been chosen me to serve in South Africa. The years have been filled with many opportunities, joys and challenges. Continuing to teach a weekly Bible Study for a group of International Women in Hillcrest. The study has focused on the New Inductive Study Series: the Book of Isaiah by Kay Arthur. The study in Isaiah has continued for this quarter. This study group has initiated a 24 hour prayer line that is manned by six of the class members. I am in the rotation schedule. Please pray that this ministry will be effective. In addition, the number of active Project Hope cases receiving nursing supervision continues to vary between 13 to 26 patients in the Botha’s Hill area and 10 to 20 patients in Swayimani, Pietermaritzburg. The project continues to receive requests for services from the community. We are also continuing to serve clients referred by the local government clinics. These referrals have included patients suffering with hypertension and diabetes.

A monthly health screening clinic for hypertension and diabetes was established in August of 2013 in KwaNuyswa along with an ongoing monthly Soup Kitchen in conjunction with the 1000 Hills Baptist Church.

For the past three years, I have been working with a set of twins who are delayed and who have and have numerous health problems related to living in a house that had mold, leaks and was generally unsafe. One of the children spent two months in the hospital due to respiratory problems. As a result of that discussion, Dr. and Mrs. Amon Kasamabala spoke with their Pastor. Pastor Bryan requested that his church (Hillcrest Presbyterian Church) build a home for this family. When released from the hospital, the child went home to a safe place to live. The salvation of the Lord on display!

A prayer walking ministry was initiated in Embo community. Since its inception, several individuals have been saved. As a result, a weekly bible

study has been started. I share the teaching responsibility with two missionaries from Nigeria, Chim and Ebie Onyebilanma.
